on press on nails (and how to survive them)

๐Ÿ’…

Today, I put on some new press-on nails. They're pretty hard to get used to, so I'm posting some of my tips on surviving press-ons, acrylics, or long nails in general.

First of all, the first few days will be awkward and uncomfortable, especially if you don't wear nails that often. Go slow and remember that you won't be able to do everything you can do with short nails. Typing on your phone and computer will also be harder. Pick up your fingers higher, more exaggerated typing and go a bit slower so you don't make as many mistakes. Your nails can handle a lot of pressure, but for the first day or so go easy on them. This means limit scratching things, or picking things (like a soft drink can, for instance). When getting them off, be careful to not just yank them or snap them off- it really hurts and also damages your nail bed. Go to a salon to get them removed, or cut them short and soak them off in acetone-based nail polish remover. Remember that every time you put on fake nails it will damage your real nails.

Lastly, remember that fake nails are only temporary, so you can have fun with colours and patterns without committing too hard.
