on packing for a trip (the day before i leave)
✈️
Right now, I'm meant to be packing for a family holiday. I haven't started yet- I lean towards packing later rather than earlier, but my family is the opposite. If my mum had her way we would all be packed and ready to go a week in advance. But I think my way, the day before (or even the morning of) is much better- that way I don't forget anything or need to use something that's already been packed.
I'm not the most organised of my family- I generally can't be bothered as long as I know where everything is. The rest of my family, being extremely organised, are naturally opposites to my 'take it as it comes' mindset. For this holiday I am sure everyone else has planned schedules and itineraries (I don't even really know what's going on).
Packing for a trip really exposes who people really are, and also sets the tone for the trip. If you're stressed out packing, you're probably going to be stressed on the trip- at least, I think so. So I try to relax when I'm packing, making it enjoyable for myself (as much as stuffing a suitcase can be).
Have I forgotten anything when packing the day before? Well, yes. But so have the other week-in-advance packers. So given both sides forget things, I don't think that's a measure of efficiency (plus, I'm convinced I'm right).
Anyway, I have to finish (start) packing.
